As many of you know it, Knol is Google's version of a knowledge-space similar to Wikipedia, allowing users to publish articles. Of course to Google, this is just another one of their tactics to lure people into using more of their tools to 'hopefully' gain some exposure and make some money. After all, Knol's biggest advantage over Wikipedia is that you can slap an Adsense advertisement there for everyone to click, hence opportunity for a free source of income.

The idea of making money using Knol is all about driving traffic to your Knol site. Not just any, but drawing TARGETED traffic. Why targeted traffic? Simply because it'll increase the probability of them deciding to click on your adsense ads. Lets assume you write an article on Knol about 'making money online'. Chances are, the ads in the adsense box will be related to 'making money ebooks and services'. "Hm... this seems like something interesting", and people will just keep clicking.

Since Knol's design is pretty much fully search engine optimized (Google-optimized to be more accurate), you need not worry too much about the technical aspects of SEO in publishing articles there. All you need to know is 'what' to write about that will drive people to your Knol article.

Hence this is when Google Keywords comes in. For those who do not know of Google keywords, its about time you did. Google keywords is an amazing AND useful tool provided by Google that allows you to search and determine which keywords have very high search volumes. For example the keyword 'music' has over 60 million search queries monthly. Now just imagine if your Knol page (or website for that matter) is ranked one of the top few for that search query? Money-making opportunity!

Now that we've gotten the general idea. What can you do? Write a good articles! Do some research, write something unique, informative, and original. Utilize tools like Google Trends to help identify keyword trends and possible topics to write about. The rest is up to your own creativity to make the article worth reading!
