Make Money with Knol (Google's Wikipedia)

Sunday, 07 September 2008 @ 11:45 PM

Are you a writer? A blogger? Has the thought of "making some money" through blogging or writing ever crossed your mind? Well here's an opportunity for you.

Couple of months back, Google introduced Knol, which they claim to be their version of Wikipedia. They're both pretty similar in many ways, but their major difference is the way articles/content is published. Unlike Wikipedia where articles there are written from a neutral/unbiased perspective, Google's Knol allows you to write just about anything you like. For example, if you're good at Linux, you can use Knol to publish articles pertaining to using Linux and stuff. So yeah, sound cool? For more information on "what" Knol is, visit this link. Ironically, it is on Wikipedia. LOL

So what so great about this Knol thing you ask?
Well here's the best part - Google allows you to publish Adsense advertisements on ALL of your Knol-published pages/articles! Imagine the amount of potential there is for monetizing your knowledge. I know many of you are thinking, "I don't like Adsense!, can't I use Yahoo's or some other ad program instead?". Well unfortunately, Knol is not your blog, and hence you're only allowed to publish Google ads there. As for the amount you are able to make per-click, that depends on the popularity of your article and other factors Google themselves take into account.

How do you get started with Knol?
Duh, visit the Knol website, and register for an account there!

Once you've gotten yourself a Knol account, you will need to associate your Google Adsense account with your Knol account. This is done by logging into your Knol account and clicking on the "Settings" link in the top of the page.

knol published articles are similar to any website as the PR/indexing of the article depends on the page's popularity and article relevance. Meaning spamming knol articles will get you nowhere unless theyre rly good
